Lonvas
Ingredients
- ½ kg. Mutton or Beef
- ¼ kg. Raddish or white pumpkin (or vegetable of your choice)
- 8 flakes garlic, crushed
- 2 tbsp. bottle masala
- ½ coconut juice (or 2 cups canned juice)
- 1 tbsp. tamarind pulp
- 1 small onion sliced
- Salt to taste
- Ghee
- Cut the meat into pieces, wash and drain.
- Heat 1 tbsp. ghee in a cooker or a vessel and fry sliced onion till light brown.
- Add meat and sauté till it changes color. Then add hot water to cook the meat, bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for about an hour (if not using cooker) Add salt and continue cooking till meat is tender and done.
- In another vessel, add 1 tbsp ghee and fry the crushed garlic for few seconds, do not brown.
- Add the bottle masala and fry few minutes adding some of the meat stock to prevent the masala getting burn.
- Add the raddish, stock alongwith the cooked meat and a little water if required.
- When raddish is cooked, add the tamarind pulp and cook few minutes.
- Add coconut juice and cook for five minutes.
- Remove from heat and serve hot with steamed rice.
