Ingredients

  • ½ kg. Mutton  or Beef
  • ¼ kg. Raddish or white pumpkin (or vegetable of your choice)
  • 8 flakes garlic, crushed
  • 2 tbsp. bottle masala
  • ½ coconut juice (or 2 cups canned juice)
  • 1 tbsp. tamarind pulp
  • 1 small onion sliced
  • Salt to taste
  • Ghee
  1. Cut the meat into pieces, wash and drain.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp. ghee in a cooker or a vessel and fry sliced onion till light brown.
  3. Add meat and sauté till it changes color.  Then add hot water to cook the meat, bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for about an hour (if not using cooker)  Add salt and continue cooking till meat is tender and done.
  4. In another vessel, add 1 tbsp ghee and fry the crushed garlic for few seconds, do not brown.
  5. Add the bottle masala and fry few minutes adding some of the meat stock to prevent the masala getting burn.
  6. Add the raddish, stock alongwith the cooked meat and a little water if required.
  7. When raddish is cooked, add the tamarind pulp and cook few minutes.
  8. Add coconut juice and cook for five minutes.
  9. Remove from heat and serve hot with steamed rice.
