Potato Chops

Ingredients

  • ½ kg. mince
  • ½ kg. potatoes, 1 tsp butter
  • 2 onions, 1 large tomato
  • 2 greem chillies, 1” pc. ginger
  • 3 flakes garlic
  • ¼ cup coriander leaves
  • ¼ cup mint leaves
  • ½ tsp. turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp. garam masala powder
  • ½ tsp. black pepper powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Egg & bread crumbs for coating
  • Oil for frying

Method

  1. Wash mince and drain.
  2. Boil potatoes and mash well adding butter and salt.
  3. Chop finely the onion, ginger, garlic, green chillies & tomatoes.
  4. Heat oil in a vessel, add onion, garlic, ginger, green chillies and fry till brown.
  5. Add tomatoes and fry till soft.
  6. Add the masala powders, fry for a minute, add mince and stir till the mince changes colour.
  7. Then add ¼ cup water, salt to taste and cook stirring occasionally till the water evaporates and mince is cooked.
  8. Add the chopped coriander and mint leaves and cook till the mixture is dry.
  9. Leave aside to cool.
  10. Now take a large lemon sized ball of potato mixture, flatten it on the palm of your hand and form into a cup.
  11. Take a tablespoon of the mince mixture and put into the middle of the potato cup, bring the ends together and close forming into a round shape, then flatten a little.
  12. Coat with beaten egg, roll in bread crumbs and shallow fry with little oil, on low heat, till light brown on both sides.
