Potato Chops
Ingredients
- ½ kg. mince
- ½ kg. potatoes, 1 tsp butter
- 2 onions, 1 large tomato
- 2 greem chillies, 1” pc. ginger
- 3 flakes garlic
- ¼ cup coriander leaves
- ¼ cup mint leaves
- ½ tsp. turmeric powder
- ½ tsp. garam masala powder
- ½ tsp. black pepper powder
- Salt to taste
- Egg & bread crumbs for coating
- Oil for frying
Method
- Wash mince and drain.
- Boil potatoes and mash well adding butter and salt.
- Chop finely the onion, ginger, garlic, green chillies & tomatoes.
- Heat oil in a vessel, add onion, garlic, ginger, green chillies and fry till brown.
- Add tomatoes and fry till soft.
- Add the masala powders, fry for a minute, add mince and stir till the mince changes colour.
- Then add ¼ cup water, salt to taste and cook stirring occasionally till the water evaporates and mince is cooked.
- Add the chopped coriander and mint leaves and cook till the mixture is dry.
- Leave aside to cool.
- Now take a large lemon sized ball of potato mixture, flatten it on the palm of your hand and form into a cup.
- Take a tablespoon of the mince mixture and put into the middle of the potato cup, bring the ends together and close forming into a round shape, then flatten a little.
- Coat with beaten egg, roll in bread crumbs and shallow fry with little oil, on low heat, till light brown on both sides.
