Sannas
Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 1 cup boiled rice
- 1 tbsp. urad dal
- ¼ tsp. dried yeast
- Salt to taste
Method
- Wash the dal and rice and soak for 6 hours.
- Add 2 tbsp. warm water and 1 tsp. sugar to the yeast and leave for 10 minutes.
- Grind the rice and dal to a paste.
- Add the yeast mixture to the rice paste and mix well.
- Cover and keep aside for 8 hours or till the dough ferments and rises.
- Steam in idli moulds.
Sweet (Stuffed) sannas:-
- Prepare coconut/jaggery filling, as for Patoleos
- Fill the idli mould half way with batter
- Put a tablespoon of the filling, add more batter to the mould and steam.
