Stuffed Sweet Sannas (10)

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 1 cup boiled rice
  • 1 tbsp. urad dal
  • ¼ tsp. dried yeast
  • Salt to taste


  1. Wash the dal and rice and soak for 6 hours.
  2. Add 2 tbsp. warm water and 1 tsp. sugar to the yeast and leave for 10 minutes.
  3. Grind the rice and dal to a paste.
  4. Add the yeast mixture to the rice paste and mix well.
  5. Cover and keep aside for 8 hours or till the dough ferments and rises.
  6. Steam in idli moulds.

 Sweet (Stuffed) sannas:-

  1. Prepare coconut/jaggery filling, as for Patoleos
  2. Fill the idli mould half way with batter
  3. Put a tablespoon of the filling, add more batter to the mould and steam.
