Breakfast Plain Parathas
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp. vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
- Water for kneading
- Ghee for applying on the parathas
- Sieve flour and mix with the tsp. of oil thoroughly.
- Add salt, required water and knead to a soft dough. Cover and set aside for 15 minutes.
- Make 10 to 12 round balls of the dough. Roll out each ball into a medium circle.
- Apply a drop of ghee, fold into a square.
- Roll out again into and larger square.
- Heat a tava or non-stick pan and place the chapatti on it and cook both sides on medium flame till small brown spots appear.
- Apply ghee and flip over, apply ghee and fry both sides. Repeat for the remaining dough. Serve hot.
TIP: Add hot water to the flour, mix with a spoon and leave aside. Knead to a dough when cool enough to handle. Makes for softer chapatis.
