Ingredients

  • 200 gms maida
  • 100 gms. Butter
  • 60 gms icing sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 100 gms walnuts
  • 200 gms dates (remove seeds)

Method:

  1. Cream butter and sugar.
  2. Add the flour and beaten egg and knead  to a soft dough.
  3. Put a piece of walnut in the center of the date.
  4. Roll the dough ¼ inch thick – cut into 2 inch strips, roll a date in each.
  5. Place the rolls on a baking tray, brush the top of the roll with egg yolk
  6. Bake in a moderate ovenfor 20 minutes till light brown on the underside.
