Ingredients
3/4 cup grated bottle gourd (doodhi/lauki)
2 green chillies, chopped
2 cups whole wheat flour
½ cup low fat yoghurt
½ tsp. turmeric powder
1 tsp. oil
Salt to taste
Flour for rolling
Mix the oil into the flour and then add all the remaining ingredients and knead to a soft dough. Use a little water only if required. Divide into 12 to 15 equal portions.
Roll out each portion as thin as possible using a little dry wheat flour for rolling.
Heat a non-stick griddle (tava) and cook each thepla till golden brown spots appear on both the sides. Smear with little ghee, if desired.
Serve hot with yoghurt, pickle or butter.
