Also called Sev or Kara Kaddi, a savoury for the Christmas Sweets platter!

  • ½ Kg. Gram flour
  • 1 tsp. cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp. Ajwain seeds (Carom or Bishop’s weed)
  • 1 tsp. Salt or to taste
  • 1 tsp. Chilli powder or to taste (optional)
  • Oil for frying
  1. Sieve flour and salt and chilli powder (if using) together.
  2. Add the cumin and ajwain and mix the flour with water, a little at a time, otherwise would get watery.
  3. Knead well form into balls.
  4. Heat the oil and using a sev mold press directly into the oil.
  5. Fry on medium flame till done.
