Hot & Sour Mackerel Curry
Ingredients
- 4 large mackerels
- 1 onion
- 2 to 4 green chillies (to taste)
- 1” pc. ginger
- Salt to taste
Grind to a paste
- 8 to 10 red chillies (kashmiri)
- ½ tsp. coriander seeds
- ½ tsp. cumin seeds
- 10 to 12 pepper corns
- 4 flakes garlic
- Small lemon sized ball tamarind
- ¼ coconut
- ¼ tsp. turmeric powder
Method
- Clean and cut mackerel into 2 or 3 pieces. Wash, apply little salt and set aside.
- Slice the onion, slit the green chillies and cut the ginger into strips and put into a vessel along with salt, masala paste and enough water for curry.
- Mix well and bring to a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add the fish and cook 15 to 20 minutes or till done and oil surfaces.
