  • 2 cups boiled rice (matta rice works well)
  • ¾ cup fresh coconut, grated
  • Salt to taste


  1. Wash and soak rice for 3 to 4 hours.
  2. Grind to a paste with the coconut and salt adding as little water as possible.
  3. In case the rice paste has excess moisture, microwave for a minute at a time, until the paste is dry and easy to handle.
  4. Form into 2” diameter balls, make a depression with your thumb.
  5. Steam for 20 to 25 minutes till done.
