Peas Pulao

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 4 cups hot water
  • 3 maggi soup cubes
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 1 cup peas, shelled
  • 6 peppercorns
  • 2” pc. cinnamon
  • 5 cloves
  • 4 cardamoms
  • 2 tbsp. ghee or oil
  • Salt to taste


  1. Wash and soak rice for ½ hour. 
  2. Heat ghee, add the whole spices and onion and fry on medium heat till light brown. 
  3. Add the soup cubes and peas and stir till the soup cubes have dissolved.  Add the rice and stir till every grain is coated with ghee. 
  4. Add water and salt and bring to a boil, stir and transfer to very low flame and cook covered till all the water is absorbed. 
  5. Dot with butter, if desired, and serve hot.
