Kanda Poha / POHA UPMA

Ingredients

  • 2 cups thick Poha (Aval)
  • 1/2 cup raw peanuts, pistas or any nuts of your choice
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • 1 tsp. mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp. urad dal
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 tsp. or Salt to taste
  • 2
  • tbsp. ghee

Clean the Poha and soak in hot water  for a minute.  Drain and set aside.

Heat ghee in a vessel and add mustard seeds, when it splutters add urad dal and fry till light brown, now add curry leaves.  Add the peanuts and fry for 2 to 3 minutes.

Add the onion and green chillies and fry till onion is translucent, then add turmeric, salt and lemon juice and add the poha and toss gently till well mixed.

Garnish with coriander leaves.  Serve hot.
