Raw Banana Bhaji

Raw Banana Bhaji

Ingredients

  • 6 raw bananas
  • ½ cup coconut
  • 2 tbsp. tamarind juice
  • Salt and jaggery to taste

Roast, each separately & powder

  • 1 tbsp. coriander seeds
  • 3 red chillies
  • ½ tsp. cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp. pepper corns
  • ½ tsp. fenugreek (methi) seeds

Tempering

  • ½ tsp. mustard seeds
  • 3 flakes garlic, crushed
  • Few curry leaves
  • 2 sliced onions

Method

  1. Peel the bananas and cut into ½” cubes and soak in water till required (to prevent them turning black).
  2. Heat oil, add the mustard seeds, curry leaves, crushed garlic flakes, sliced onions and fry till onions are light brown.
  3. Add the powdered masala, fry for a few minutes
  4. Then add the banana pieces, salt and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Add the grated coconut, jaggery, tamarind juice and simmer till done.
  6. Adjust seasoning
  7. Serve hot.
