Idli Sambar

  • Servings: 10-15 Makes 30 Idlis

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Rice rava (Idli Rava) (available at any Indian grocers)
  • 1 Cup Urad Dal
  • 2 Cups water for whole preparation i.e. grinding and  to adjust consistency of batter (do not add more water).
  • 2 tsp. salt or to taste
  1. Soak Urad dal for 4-5 hours and grind to a very smooth paste.
  2. Wash the idli rawa with water, drain and mix with the ground urad dal.
  3. Keep in a warm place to ferment for 10 to 12 hours or overnight.
  4. Add salt to taste and pour the batter into idle steamer mold and steam for 10 to 15 minutes.
  5. When done remove from steamer and leave aside to cool slightly then remove by sliding a butter knife around the edges of the mold.
