Gingerbread Cookies

Number of cookies will depend on the size of cookies


  • 1 Cup flour or whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp. ginger powder
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon powder
  • ¼  tsp. nutmeg grated
  • 1/8 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • ¼ cup butter (half stick)
  • 1/6 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/6 cup molasses
  • 1 egg


  • Mix dry ingredients from flour to salt. 
  • Beat sugar & butter till smooth. 
  • Add molasses and egg and beat well. 
  • Add dry ingredients and mix lightly till it form a dough. 
  • Place in plastic wrap and refrigerate till firm about one hour.
  • Work with small portions of the dough and keep remaining refrigerated.
  • Roll out dough, dust with flour if necessary, cut into desired shapes and bake, 10 to 15 minutes till edges turn brown.
  • For plain cookies, cut into round shapes.
